More information about MAE 3.0 Update 3

What do I need to know?

MAE 3.0 Update 3 has been thoroughly tested on following platforms: MAE is also compatible with other final release versions of Solaris (2.4 and later) as well as HP-UX (9.0.3 and later) with the exception of HP-UX 10.01. In the event that you have installed HP-UX 10.01, you must first upgrade to HP-UX 10.10 (or later) if you wish to use MAE 3.0.

All of these versions require an X11 release 5 or later window display server. MAE is compatible with HP's Visual User Environment, as well as SunSoft's OpenWindows, OSF Motif, and CDE. We recommend a minimum of 32MB RAM for the workstation (48MB preferred). For SPARCstations, the recommended minimum processor speed is a SPARC 5, 10/51, 20 or faster. For HP-UX workstations, the minimum recommended processor speed is 712, 715/100, 735 or faster.

IMPORTANT One or more OS patches may be required on your workstation before MAE 3.0 can be utilized. For more information, please read the section `VERIFYING VENDOR PATCHES IN YOUR WORKSTATION SOFTWARE' in the document README.TXT, which can be found on the CDWare CD-ROM as well as via FTP from www.mae.apple.com.

A demo key will permit you to evaluate MAE for a total of 30 days on your workstation. Once the 30 days has passed, MAE 3.0 will cease to function and can be removed from your workstation. If you wish to purchase MAE after the 30 day period, you can purchase a permanent key as detailed on top-level MAE page.

You must request a demo key from the MAE web site in order to validate your copy of MAE 3.0.

How do I get a demo key?

MAE 3.0 requires that you obtain a license key in order for it to be functional. To do this, you will be asked to fill out a form with some questions about you and your organization. Upon completion, this form is sent to Apple. Shortly thereafter, you will receive an automated reply to the e-mail address that you specified in the form.

Note: A license key will only be sent once to each requester. As specified in the MAE 3.0 license agreement, you may not use another key after the first one expires. However, you are free to distribute the key (and the MAE 3.0 software) to as many workstations as you wish during the 30 day period.
